Recent Competition Results

Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th November 2017

The competition on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th November 2017 was a 14 hole Men’s Singles. Sponsored by Tullamore Golf Club. The result was as follows: OVERALL: 1st Evan Monaghan (18) 35pts, 2nd Pat Corcoran (R) (17) 33pts C/B. Category (0-9): 1st Mark Davis (9) 32pts, 2nd John Lynch (7) 29pts. Category (10-14): 1st Mick Egan (13) 32pts, 2nd Joe Morris (12) 31 pts. Category (15-18): 1st Oliver Conlon (16) 33pts, 2nd Donal Farrelly (15) 32pts. Category (19+): 1st Vincent O’Connor (20) 32 pts, 2nd Noel Mooney (21) 31pts

Senior Men’s Competition

The results of the Senior Men’s Competition held on Thursday 26th October were: Category 1: Oliver Dixon brought in 29 points with Paschal McCann in 2nd place on the same score and a point behind on 28 points was Tom Daly to take the 3rd place. Category 2 was won by Tony Cleary with 32 points followed by Tom Walsh on 31 points and in 3rd place Ray Ryan with 28 points. The Category 3 winner was Humphrey O’Connor with 33 points, 2nd place went to Terry O’Reilly with 29 points and 3rdwas Michael Moore with 28 points. The overall winner was Mick Dalton with a great score of 34 points.

Upcoming Club Competitions

The competition on 18th and 19th November 2017 is a Men’s 14 hole Singles competition.

Weekly Turkey Competitions

The weekly Turkey Competition entries will now be entered in the book which has been left with the envelopes etc. at the men’s office. Monday to Friday competitions will not require you to sign in on the computer. Re-entry is allowed. Please sign in to the book provided before you commence play and return your card to the competitions box in the locker room.

Club Membership

The Club are currently offering 14 months membership for the price of 12 months up to 31st December 2018. If you know of anyone interested in joining and availing of this great offer please pass on the word. Men’s Club Annual General Meeting 2017

Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting (A.G.M.) of the Men’s Club will take place on Sunday 26th November 2017 at 16:00 in the Clubhouse. Notices of Motion, proposed and seconded by voting members of the Men’s Club, must be submitted in writing to the Secretary-Treasurer of the Men’s Club at least twenty-one days before the date of the A.G.M. (i.e. no later than Sunday 5th November 2017). Nominations for the Men’s Committee including the position of Secretary/Treasurer must be made in writing to the Secretary-Treasurer of the Men’s Club at least seven (7) days before the date of the meeting. A nomination form will be posted on the notice board in the Club for this purpose in due course.

Captain’s Dinner

A dinner in honour of our Captain Mr Tony Flanagan takes place this coming Saturday 18th November in the clubhouse at 19:00. This is an important event in the club calendar and is an opportunity to say thank to our Captain for his year and the excellent job he did in representing our members. An acceptance, apologies and menu choice list is posted in the foyer of the Club. Hope to see you there in large numbers.

MEN'S WINTER LEAGUE 2017-2018

The winter league qualifying rounds will be played between November 1st 2017 and January 28th 2018.

All of the qualifying rounds will be played on the course in play on the particular day (White Markers).

(It is permitted to play qualifying rounds on Winter Greens).

 

Teams:

Each team will consist of six players and may be from the same or varied handicap categories. Teams will be created from individual entries where players cannot form their own teams.

 

Score Entry:

In all rounds players must sign in on computer in Mens Locker Room prior to playing round and enter score after each round.

A separate card (blue) must be marked for each winter league round with the round number and team number being recorded on the scorecard.

 

Qualifying Scores: 

The qualifying stages will be singles Stableford played over 14 holes.

The cumulative totals of the 5 best scorecards from 6 scorecards submitted from each team in each round of the four rounds determining the qualifying scores. The top 9 teams with the best cumulative scores at the end of the qualifying period will go forward to the play-off stages.

Tied Scores (Countback):

In the event of a tie the final counting scorecards (best five cards) will be used, if still tied the final best four counting cards and so on until to the best card if necessary to which the normal count back rules will apply i.e. last 9, 6,etc.  

Play-off Stages:

The Final (Play-off Stage) will be held on Saturday February 3rd 2018.

Format for the day:

The top 9 teams will qualify.

There will be a Shotgun start with 3 players on each tee-box.

The Final will be Stableford over 18 holes with the winning team being decided on the cumulative totals of the 5 best scorecards from 6 scorecards submitted on the day.

In the event of a tie, the best four cards will be used, if still tied the best three cards and so on until to the best card if necessary to which the normal count back rules will apply i.e. last 9, 6,etc.

It is the intention of the committee to play the Final on Full Greens.

 

Team Substitutes:

Substitutes will not be permitted if a player to be substituted has completed a round of the qualifying stage of the competition.

 

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded to the winning, runners up and third place team members. Prizes will be presented on the evening of the Final.

 

RULES:

·        Teams may enter the competition at any time throughout the period of the qualifying rounds.

·        Caddies will not be permitted at any stage of this competition.

·        Qualifying rounds must be played in the proper sequence.

·        Before commencing play on the 1st tee players must have signed in to the PC and declare their intention to submit a winter league scorecard.

·        A separate card must be marked for each winter league round with the round number and team number being recorded on the scorecard.

·        Player will be disqualified should they submit a scorecard which does not comply with the competition rules. 

Enter in the Mens Office.  Entry fee is €5.00 per player or €30 per team. Teams should be one entry in one envelope with team name, player names and handicaps.
