Tullamore is a championship golf course located in a traditional parkland setting. It has many picturesque views, which are enhanced by clusters of mature oak, beech and chestnut trees with the Slieve Bloom Mountains in the background. It is rated among the top-25 parkland courses in Ireland in BACKSPIN's 2014 Irish Golf Course Rankings Poll, which involved a panel of 75 influential personalities
The course is located at Brookfield since 1926 and in 1938 the Club invited James Braid, a 5 times British Open winner, to visit Tullamore to inspect the course and recommend what changes should be made to improve the overall standard of Brookfield. This was of significant benefit as Braid suggested 4 complete new holes among other changes which included a bunkering plan and a new 18th hole which was not completed until 1945. The bulk of the work on the course was carried out over a three year period. In the mid 1990's course architect, Patrick Merrigan was engaged to re-design the course. The result which was unveiled in our Centenary Year, 1996, is a magnificent course which combines the best of the James Braid design with three new lakes along with seven new greens, 11 new tees and 30 new bunkers. Drainage and irrigation were upgraded and 5,000 trees were planted to augment those mature oak, beech and chestnut threes that had been there for a century and more.
The 5th, 13th, 14th, 16th and 18th holes, in particular, provide the visitor with an unforgettable challenge and a course of championship standard to the discerning golfer.
Many major competitions have been hosted at Tullamore including:
2010 ILGU Irish Senior Women's Close Championship
2009 GUI All-Ireland Cups & Shields Finals
2008 GUI Leinster Boys' Championship
1999 GUI Men's Irish Seniors' Amateur Open Championship

1970/1973/1976/1979/1994 GUI Irish Youths Championship
1970 & 1984 ILGU Ladies Senior Interprovincial Championships
In 1967 and 1970 the Irish PGA Championship was held at Tullamore
The GUI All-Ireland Cups and Shields Finals are regarded as the largest Club Festival of Golf of its kind in the world and Tullamore was proud to host these finals in 2009 when there was nothing but praise for the quality and standard of the course and our facilities.

What they said:
"I just wish to congratulate and say well done to everyone at TULLAMORE for hosting the CUPS AND SHIELDS. Such a lovely setting and what a super course. The greens were magnificent and well done to the GREEN STAFF as without doubt they must be the best greens in IRELAND! A big thank you also to the staff who looked after us so well and were so friendly. It was for most of us our first visit to TULLAMORE and hopefully will not be our last."
Michael Brennan, Captain Junior Cup Team, Malone Golf Club.
"You have a fantastic parkland course in super condition with unique features. It has maturity that a lot of the new courses don't have. The texture & roll on the greens is excellent. You can see that there is great emphasis on attention to detail. I hope that the members are very proud of their course and their staff."

"I know from many years playing in your Scratch Cup that your course is always a pleasure to play and your members are always proud of your wonderful course, but you really presented it at it's peak last week and have set a new standard that other clubs will struggle to follow"
Diarmuid Caulfield, Galway Senior Cup & Barton Shield Team Captain
"We played the course four times and it is a truly magnificent course, one that will stay in our memory for a long time. The greens during the week were probably the best greens the team have ever played on. The course is a credit to you and everyone involved."
